Thread: Ability to search titles database by meta data?

Hi,

It would be great to be able to search the titles database by the following meta data:

stereo
multichannel
hybrid
DSD
star rating

Is there any chance of this being added?

Thanks,
Matt

Of all you've listed now you can search the titles only by DSD filter. In top right corner.

The sort of search I'd like to do is, for example:

contains the word "Bizet"
hybrid
not multichannel
has rating

Unfortunately for a lot of titles in the database this information is incomplete, rendering such searches less than useful. The new submission procedure specifically asks for this information (at least the first three) but submitted titles currently only represent a small proportion of the database. In other words, if the data was there I'd consider implementing filtered searches as you've outlined.

Why not the following:
Multi-channel 5.0
Multi-channel 5.1

......instead of simply bog standard multi-channel descriptions?

In that case can we rally around and help complete the data?

I'd be happy to help with data from my small SACD collection.

Only two factors concern me right now..

1. 'Recent Additions' remains 100% up-to-date including all known future releases (94% of the reason I visit every day) PS - I hate reading about and searching for new discs elsewhere before they appear on SA-CD.net

2. A convenient and easy (one click) print option for both 'My Library' and 'My Work List' so that a paper copy of my collection can be kept in the listening room for ready access. (4% of the reason etc). Printing should also exclude all the surrounding background headings and 'guff' that otherwise appear on every page, wasting so much time and ink.

The other 2% of my use is the Forum but my interest in that is waning as long term contributors drift away and threads become ever more repetitive and laborious.

Can additional data be gleaned from Gracenote or MusicBrainz?
