Well... Whatcha waiting for? Get it out of the box and play it, Mark ;-)

It might not be Zeppelin or Metallica, but Mannheim Steamroller have put together a nice, festive compilation of Xmas standards in the style of Windham Hill albums of the 1980s.

This is the only time of year that you'll be interested in listening to Xmas music. In a couple of weeks it'll all be over.

Nag, Nag, NAG!

But you're correct, Brett. There are TWO Mannheim Steamroller Xmas albums in discrete 5.1 and have you picked up the Checkfield DVD~A 5.1, also? That's also a REAL slam dunk with some incredible melodies and thrilling sonics!

Also, DO check out the John Fahey Xmas album (with VOLUME II included). Incredible musicianship and one you'll return to year after year.

I really wish American Gramaphone would release some of their Fresh Aire series in 5.1 but alas, they only released Volume 8 in 5.1 (with RBCD included....which I do have) which is definitely worth picking up as AmazonUS has it REALLY cheap from $1.90 used to $9.90 NEW + s/h.

Checkfield and Fresh Aire should be enroute. QQers are saying Primus/Chocolate Factory is pretty wild immersive stuff. I might have to indulge my sweet tooth.

Happy Thanksgiving, Ralph... and all!

I'm sure glad I made it through all the airports before the rush and snow!
It's a cold, rainy day here.

BTW, Brett, AmazonUS has the entire first season of Hannibal, brand new, on BD~V for $4.99.....one of those Black Friday pre~sales. Extended episodes and one NEVER shown on TV. I just picked up Jurassic World in the round collectible embossed tin for $10. Grrrrrrrrr! http://www.stereosound.co.jp/column/cinemaleader/article/2015/09/05/jurassic%20world%20tin%20cover02.jpg

My Primus and the Chocolate Factory is en rote. I likewise read it's a wild ride. I paid under $12 delivered for it.

Glad you indulged yourself with those Mannheim Steamroller discs. They ALL sound simply amazing. The Jon Anderson "3 Ships" Christmas SHM~CD is fantastic........and under $11 from CDjapan, Brett (and Markie and Derek). http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HeSFMFV4T04/T-BZcH6MZiI/AAAAAAAAFHY/_FLZ3dpM50A/s1600/JonAnderson_3Ships_stor.jpg

Happy Turkey day to ALL. A Beautiful sunny day in New York......in the mid 50's!

WHOA! Is that a Wild Turkey I see running down the street.....or is it the neighbor's chihuahua, Billie Jean, in drag? http://photos.last-video.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/michael-jackson-en-chien.jpg

I've been skimming through the Black Friday sales week @ AmazonUK (yes it's week lol), but the pickings have been slim and super slim as far as music goes. Not much new music at my end, although I did order this SACD of Bach's Goldberg variations.

Bach: Goldberg Variations (arr. Sitkovetsky) - Thomas Gould

Still no news on when my Moondance CD/BDV set will be dispatched; how was it Markie?

Brett, another John Luther Adams ambient 5.1 release: Ilimaq featuring Glenn Kotche of Wilco on drums/percussion. For a full review and ordering info refer to Audiophile Audition.com.

I did receive my Primus & The Chocolate Factory today (DD 5.1). Will try to give it a listen tonight.

I also received this much anticipated Pentatone DGG Quad remaster http://www.HRAudio.net/showmusic.php?title=11113#works

Preliminary listen: Exquisite (The Debussy)

Also received the fantastic sounding Van Der Graaf Generation SHM~SACD of Still life. Highly Recommended http://www.hraudio.net/showmusic.php?title=10466#tracks

Happy Thanksgiving to all.
A lot of discs have come in and I now am caught up.

The Checkfield, although perfect sounding, great mix and VERY discrete, musically not my cup of tea.

I double dipped on David Bowie's new Box Set, purchasing the RBCD box set and then went for the 24/192 download. WE are living in good times now, one for the car and one for the home audiophile.

Received the Dual Disc AC/DC Black In Black, awesome video of the making of, and the 24/48? (I can't remember exactly) is best I have ever heard.

The awesome surprise is Queen's, A Night At The Odeon, Blu Ray Video concert disc. Absolutely superb camera work and restoration. And I was blown away by the discrete 5.1 mix, I was fully expecting ambient and to hear guitar solos and all kinds of stuff going all around in the 5.1 speakers just made it great.

If you are like me and basically concentrate on guitar rock music some very, very, must new music is Billy Gibbons, Leslie West, and Joe Louis Walker, guaranteed you won't be dissatisfied.

Rush's R40 Live Blu Ray 5.1 video concert just arrive, I'll watch that now and get back to you. I am hoping they show a bit of San Jose as I was there.

The discs are literally piling in this week. A LOT of RBCDs el cheapo from Deep Discount (even scored the Chet Atkins/Mark Knopfler JVC K2 HD remaster (from Japan) of "Neck & Neck") for under $13.

I was really curious about the Queen Live at Odeon BD~V as BluRay.com gave it a VERY low score (1.5/5) for Picture Quality as it was an upconversion from 480i video. But a lot of times my OPPO BDP-105 and my magnificent Meridian projector (and of course the Shunyata Research HDMI cable) always exceed the quality of their reviews. SOLD!

Sorry you didn't like the Checkfield DVD~A. Oh well, donate it to Goodwill.

Also received the MoFi Miles Davis Nefertiti SACD today. LOT'S of listening to do and VERY busy @ work.

Update on my speakers: On hold for now until the construction is finished in my listening room. I will get the updated versions which my Meridian rep just installed for a customer in Dubai. He said I should be ecstatic with the results. Thank the stars I'm a patient sort.

Addenda: just received the huge Music Direct 2016 catalogue today. Whew!

I'm intrigued about the Adams 5.1 recording. Thanks! And I'll probably be picking up the Primus and for sure the Debussy.

The whole Van Der Graaf SHM-SACD set is worth having if you dig the music. And remember, I even got a nifty little box to store them in. he he he ;-)...

Btw, are you watching the Amazon series "The Man in the High Castle" based on the 1962 Phillip K. Dick novel? I haven't seen it, but a friend of mine said it's pretty good... http://www.vox.com/culture/2015/11/22/9777638/man-in-the-high-castle-review-amazon

I've been debating whether or not to get the AC/DC Dualdisc. I mean.. do I really want another stereo version!? But, you've persuaded me. It's on the "To Get" list.

But first... The Queen bluray DOES sound awesome. Thanks for the mini review! WoW! A legit surround mix. I gotta hear that!

And... I'll be interested in hearing your take on Rush R40. Over on QQ, there's been a lot of 'wishful' discussions about Steven Wilson mixing Rush's studio albums in surround. Nothing definite yet, but wouldn't that be fantastic!!? If he could do all of their early albums the way he mixed the recent Yes-Fragile bluray, I would be one happy (but penniless) camper! LOL!
