Like all other Zeppelin recordings, this one is absolutely terrible. I just can't see why any respectable mastering studio would waist their time and our money in producing such crap. I purchased this blu-ray hoping to ''finally'' hear a good sounding Zep title but as it turned out, I simply couldn't sit there for more than five minutes listening to it.

Luckily, the amazon seller I bought it from accepted the return.

How the West Was Won DVD-A is another not so great recording.

Don't forget that this disc was recorded live. Same for How The West Was Won.

That doesn't necessarily preclude good sound. I think Deep Purple's "Made in Japan" sounds quite good--very organic.

Stereo track is far more listenable than awfully mixed multichannell one, IMHO. I also have declined to order deluxe editions of the first 3 studio albums from LZ. Hi-rez is offered for download only....so no go for me.

The Hi Res download only comes with the Super Deluxe edition. NO GO for me too. Hoping maybe HDtracks or similar will have them.

Have You already purchased anything from HDtracks? I just wonder if their SQ of downloads is comparable with other physical releases. Somebody of QQ-forum has already mentioned, that some of the downloaded material has been sourced from the same "masters" used for vinyl nad then for RBCD releases. Some of them were digitally upsampled which is the feature I am also capable of and thus I put no trust in these "stores".

I have for about a year and in the beginning some of the downloads were horrible, up-sampled and no better than RBCDs, lately they have gotten much better. Must have been enough complaints on their so called Hi RES.

There's Acoustic Sounds too.

Interesting to read that. I've been looking forward very much for some Led Zeppelin music to be out on a hi-res format - so that I can eventually ditch the CD album I have, which sounds so flat.

Perhaps I should just stick with the CD, and just accept there's nothing much better out there.

I tend to agree with you. I have both these recording and although not the best live recordings I have heard I think thats because they are raw and more true to the concert sound and have not been taken back to a recording studio and tweeked to get the music closer sounding to the studio release which often happens. Both concerts sound very good on my system and make me fell that I am there.

Case in point - take Eric Clapton '24 Nights' I have the origonal raw live recordings broadcast by the BBC of both the orchestral and blues nights. They are quite different to the '24 Nights' CD release. E.G. On the raw recordings Nathan Easts bass is full range but on the CD it sounds like it was done in a studio and looses all its depth.

I attended a demonstration of the new Linn Exakt system. The stereo version of 'Kashmir' from 'Celebration Day' was one of the tracks used to demonstrate the system. OMG. First time I have listened to a live recording through a commercial (although expensive) sound system that actually felt live. Bass was fantastic and everyone was well impressed with the sound of this Led Zep track.
