As Flytomars mentions, there is a spike of signal(noise?) at about 15,500 Hz, but what he does not say is that the spike never goes above -48db. This is a wonderful mix and marvelous work -as usual- from Elliot Scheiner.
To those who don't know, Scheiner has worked as an engineer in many of Steely Dan's albums, including the original version of "Gaucho" (1980). He later did a 5.1 mix of the album for DTS Entertainment and, more recently, ... more |

While the songs on this album are quite nice and laid back I find its 5.1 mix to be uninteresting and flat, lacking the depth heard on other recordings with this type of ensembles. The voice, while warm, has very strong sibilance that subtracts the smoothness one expects of a recording of this type. ... more |

This record grows on you after listening it for a while. To me the songs that stand out, apart from the two singles spawned from the album, are "Dead Man's Rope", "Never Coming Home", "The Book Of My Life" and to a lesser extent, "Stolen Car."
