| The Mch system does not generate excessive ambiance on its own, unless it wasn't set properlly. The ambiance was captured by the microphones. The ambiance reproduced from the surround speakers help mask the "fake""incorrect" ambiance from a stereo/front pair. | Complete agree, Mr Groot. But people will call us biased, as both of us working in companies related to surround sound. If I were to mention one disadvantage of Mch vs stereo, that is the space/convenience to place the center and surround speakers. I don't have a problem with that (luckily my wife either). | My few times hearing from the stage perspective also tells me the same. The sections sound quite discrete, but the reverb not well blended into the direct path. I have tried on stage, different seats in some of the halls during rehearsals or concerts. For large orchestra work, front row of balcony is my first choice.
