Sviatoslav Richter's recording of the Well-tempered Clavier is my favourite rendition … I prefer it to even that of Glenn Gould. If you like your Bach transformed into elevator muzac, then this is the disc for you. I find it bland and boring, and ever so dull. This must be one of the worst sounding SACDs I have had the misfortune of purchasing: the sound is completely 'digital' - harsh and grainy. Awful. And if the sonics are dubious, I am not sure why anyone would want to specially purchase this as a SACD. What can be its raison d'être? It doesn't seem ... more

This is unquestionably the finest performance of Mozart's requiem I have yet heard on SACD .... Karajan's performance on SACD is scarred by a woeful performance by the choir. Downloads can't compete with streaming either. That's why many people seem to think that the age of the download is already petering out.
