My principal musical interest is classical and opera. I attend several live concerts each year, most by travel to NYC to hear visiting orchestras at Carnegie Hall, and the Metropolitan Opera, where I’ve enjoyed a subscription for many seasons - live performance is my reference. My CD/SACD collection is quite extensive and varied; about 80 percent classical/opera, the balance classic rock, jazz, folk and ethnic.

It’s not a stretch, nor do you need a degree in psychology, which I do happen to have, to conclude there's some level of insecurity in play here. I also realize that for some, sarcastic personal attacks can be fun, so enjoy ... more

Letters to the editor expressing enthusiasm for SACD can be useful. If they conclude that these letters represent the interests of a meaningful number of their readers, they’re more likely to give more ink to the format. That, more than new advertising, could yield a measure of renewed interest. One of the things SACD is up against is that if the ... more

Why, given the fact that when SACD was launched, Sony, Universal Classics and others used their considerable resources to aggressively advertise in those very magazines, and still failed to get SACD beyond a niche market, would a few more advertisements, from what would be a considerably smaller SACD.net budget, succeed? ... more
