Sting: Sacred Love      (2 of 3 found this review helpful)
  October 13, 2008

In short: an uninspiring, overenegineered dull album. Very weak. C'mon Sting, you can do better than that! To prospective buyers: just buy Brand New Day instead - it is not the best of his albums but much better than this....
Godsmack: The Other Side      (1 of 1 found this review helpful)
  July 31, 2007

There are not that many rock SACDs out there... Godsmack "acoustic" stands out as a perfect performance... This is as a matter of fact my perfect Gdosmack record. There is something about acoustic metal that is very appealing to me... Maybe because it forces performers to focus on things they are ... more

One thing for sure, R&B even though marketing to the same marketitng niche as pop and rap has alwyas been graced with more than its fair share of beautiful voices. Yes, I am not a R&B fan but you can definetely tell that these ladies not only look great but are very skilled, professional singers. ... more

Music is music. Either you like Sting or you do not, the sonic quality however is second to none... Consistent with the spirit of old quad recordings this is not a "front plus surround effects in the back" but a truly a multichannel recording, with action happening all around the listener. Your ... more
Peter Gabriel: Shaking the Tree  (2 of 5 found this review helpful)
  March 27, 2007

If you are a Gabriel fan looking for a great sounding (seriously) multichannel mix of his studio work there is a "Play" DVD with an excellent DTS 5.1, containing most of Gabriel's hits, a selection, in my opinion, much better than Shaking The Tree, plus you get to see all of Gabriel's fantastic ... more

Yet another RBCD flavour: Blu-spec CD
November 20, 2008
RBCD is dead from the marketing perspective as the RBCD sales are continuously decreasing... It is also dead from a a technology standpoint because the specs are obsolete and there is no room for improvement. Interestingly SA-CD was also just another marketing ploy by Sony / Philips set to replace royalties from soon expiring RBCD patents with ... more
Sony debuts $1,500 SACD player with HDMI output
November 5, 2008
Good question. If used as transport only (as it is a case with HDMI output) why spend $1,500 ? It's another prime example of SONY having a MISGUIDED marketing policy. Beta, MD, SACD.... What's next? ... more
The importance of multichannel SACDs for the SACD format
November 5, 2008
Superior, inferior. Why do we even compare? It's matter of preference. The only thing we should focus on is survival of the format and availability of players that can support both modes of playback. It should be the listener's choice. ... more
Yet another RBCD flavour: Blu-spec CD
November 5, 2008
Yeah, I am running to the store to buy another version of RBCD recording that I already own.... Doesn't SONY know that RBCD market is dead? Did Beta, MD, SACD fiascos never taught them anything? I can't understand why SONY does not include DSD-decoding in their BD players? All of them have HDMI interface and have computing power to deal with ... more
Discussion: Black Sabbath: Paranoid

DSD, I wish I had the financing for your product.... I can't believe there are so many quadro recordings out there and only a few of them have been reissued on SACD. Yes, maybe they are recorded with an imperfect, obsolete technology but a few quadro-to-SACD releases that I have sound unbelievably well and have a special status in my collection. ... more
