I'm 27, used to be a professional cellist in Paris, stopped after accident. Curiosity led me to China, have been here for about five years, and now work as an actor and host for Chinese TV and radio.

A little note to fellow music lovers: I will try to write more "bad" reviews, but this is usually hard at least for the performance since I usually buy either recordings I've heard or from performers I know I like or will like. And I am of course influenced by reviews on this site. Even harder is to spend a few hours listening to a recording you feel is not worth it, which seems a waste of time but still is necessary to write a review.
Opinions and feelings change all the time, and I write reviews based of course on my experience as a musician, and I usually listen to a recording a least five times before daring to write anything (a few are so bad though that I'll save myself from the torture, and maybe two times might be enough), trying to like it and adapt my tastes, noticing qualities that might not be obvious to me due to taste habits. Of course if at the end I still write bad critiques then it is deeply felt.
The reason I write all this is because I feel that many people write a review after listening only one time, and I always want to know these informations about other reviewers, as well as the system they listen to which might make a excellent recording sound bad sometimes.
I try my best anyway and will always share my enthusiasm with music lovers!

Another thing: you are all welcome to my library, please ask me about a recording I have if you need to!
Location:

HiFi:
Shunyata Research Hydra Model-6 (power distribution). PS Audio Power Plant Premier on the way. Yeah baby!
Cary 306 SACD player
Vacuum State upgraded Sony SCD-XB940 SACD player (modded by Allen Wright). Not Allen's best, not yet as good as a modded SCD1, but already not so far from the sound quality of the Meitner/Emm Labs unit, and definitely better than my Cary 306 SACD (which is already clearly better than the Sony flagship SCD1). The amount of information coming out is just breathtaking.
Bel Canto Pre6 gen2 pure analogue multi-channel preamplifier (I keep it for my future mch system, but I'm soon getting rid of it in my stereo. Good tube pre soon!)
Pair of Audionet AMP II G2 monoblocks.
Shunyata Research Power Snakes Taipan cables for CD players and amplifiers
Talon Falcon speakers (likely to replace my beloved Thiel CS 2.4 & PCS bookshelf speakers)
Interconnects (XLR) & speaker cables: all by Vacuum State, best cables I've ever heard, even better than Nordost Odin. For a fraction of the price. And VSE sells cookbooks and kits for the DIY guys. Scary.

Listening room: 3m×5m×2.5m. Small.

Richard Strauss: Ein Heldenleben - Jansons      (3 of 4 found this review helpful)

The 45 minutes I just spent listening to this piece were magic. The recording places you further away than most recordings I've heard, and I didn't appreciate it before. But my system now is so much better than it used to be that I prefer this type of recording now. Because the distance and the ... more

Folks, I really don't have time for the bad ones. I always feel that I should write a couple of bad reviews once in a while just to add a little credibility... But I can't help it, these days I put the bad ones in "not recommended" and just jump on my computer when a disc is so good I have to write ... more

Good Lord. Not only is Ma on Sa a selection of highly enjoyable, wonderfully played fantastic music; not only does Ma on Sa feature some of the best natural sounding recordings on the Planet Earth; I have to say this sampler is truly addictive. I have many samplers. This is the first sampler where ... more

Oh my... This recording desperately needs a review. When you think that this near-perfection performance was live, it is even more impressive. As we say in French, you'd have to get up early to be able to imagine better. The orchestra and the singers combined are among the finest I've heard in a ... more
Beethoven: Piano Trios - Kempf Trio      (5 of 7 found this review helpful)

This recording is a revelation. I wasn't aware that we had such a great trio on SACD. I didn't know those players before, because 1998 was my last year in Paris as a musician, and I'm not very aware of the "new" generation (about my age I guess) since then. First of all, these players individually ... more

Disbeliever, We do not question everything you say, but your motives behind it. Apparently you are here to try to question the existence of SA-CD.net. Personally I agree that it's easy to be fooled between SACD and CD sometimes. For reasons related to human hearing ability or playback equipment. I too have a modded player on which CDs sound warmer ... more

Come on Bruce, this means nothing. You could could say that about any artist... sounds like the fortune teller who starts with such sentences as "you have quite a personality...", waits for an impressed reaction and starts guessing from what people reply. Or the hi-fi reviewer that writes: "I could feel Diana Krall breathing in my room. She was ... more
