I also have the ES65850 and find similar distortion of her voice. However, her recent live RBCD "Welcome to my living room" has very similar problems with her voice. Perhaps it is the mic's or recording engineer - or maybe a tired voice. In any case the SACD I have is well worth a trip down memory ... more

Not much to add to the glowing reviews to date. This is a superb SACD. If you are like me and struggle finding some Jazz you can listen to for a while - buy this disc! While known as a classic pop album when released, it is actually a fine piece of Jazz that is soothing and beautiful to listen to ... more

I can see how many would feel the sonics on this SACD rate at the high end - there is no doubt this is a well recorded and fine sounding SACD. It is a great disc to show off your system. But..........unless you are a musician and can appreciate the technical prowess of the band, this music gets real ... more

Think fall, a Friday night, and you can't figure out what to play. This SACD is a fine, eclectic mix of gospel, blues, country and more - all done very well in terms of songs, sound and mood. I didn't like this one in my car on the way home from purchasing it, but in my system, at the right time, it ... more
Rolling Stones: 12x5    (1 of 1 found this review helpful)

I have had 12x5 (SACD) since it came out. My bet is many readers of this review have it also, maybe just haven't played it in a while. Suggestion: Crank up Confessin the Blues followed by 2120 S Michigan Ave. This is definitive Rock & Roll and shows how raw and powerful these guys were 40 years ago ... more

Hi, my wife is a big fan of the Chicago soundtrack, and I realize there is a SACD version. Does anyone have an opinion of the SACD vs. the RB? I can still get the SACD locally but don't want to spend the $ if nota nice step up in sound quality. Any comments appreciated. ... more

Sony DVPNS92V - with a universal player this good - why buy a CD/SACD machine?
April 21, 2006
Is there some fundamental technical reason why the Sony DVPS 92/90 is such a good platform? It is hard to believe a $200 unit can be made to be as good as top of the line players by mods, however well thought out. On the other hand, how do you rationalize investing $1400 in mods in a $200 unit? ... more

I am tempted to purchase this as I have Live and Forget About It in SACD. I am a Stereo SACD listener, however, and would appreciate thoughts on how the 2ch SACD stacks up against the Redbook (which I already have). ... more
