This is a placeholder until I have time for a proper review (so don't pan me for posting a sparse review!). In the meantime, anybody into Jazz on SACD should order this title whilst there is still time. Impecable recording, wonderful performance and unique packaging. Cooool.. funky.. sweet ... more

I thought I would take a punt on this one and it was nothing like I had imagined. This is squarely in the "beeps & boops" camp of 20thC Classical, and I didn't know people still bothered to make music like this. Recording is from a 24/48 source. If anybody enjoys this SACD, please tell me. I have ... more

Well, here is an album I can really comment on in terms of sound quality, as I've heard them live this year twice. Which, given I'm in Perth Australia and they're a Swedish Jazz outfit is somewhat remarkable! Anyways, this is a lovely warm recording. Its very smooth and missing the harsh mid-band ... more

Great DSD Recording. The problem I have with describing Piano play-back on my system, is that it is the strength of the Quads. When I have a recording like this, it just sounds like a real piano. I can hear the pressure that the finger has placed on the key, and the connection of that key with the ... more

I will come back and revisit this review in the future. I don't have any other versions of this recording to compare with, however I do want to give SOME information to non-Japanese readers who are thinking of taking a punt on this disk from HMV Japan (or Amazon etc). So far, I have been very ... more

I would love "October" on SACD. What SACD needs is a indie re-release label. Rights could be bought for albums. I'm just not sure how many you could sell. Maybe Pentatone might branch into this area. Do you think there would be 500 people to buy a Hybrid SACD? If so, its as viable as 200g vinyl. I would love to somebody to release Brian Eno ... more

Brenda, pgmdir, Arthur, seth, Windsurfer. Thank you all for your constructive criticism or positive feedback. I'll keep opsting, doing what I can, maybe at the least it will encourage those more knowledgable to step up too the plate and show me how to do it right! In the meantime, I've put in a profile.. I didn't remember them having these when I ... more

You are right, but I guess my train of thought was that I had to order these disks totally blind, and I would have at least liked to see a review that at least let me know that the disc wasn't totally lousy! Its obviously no conclusive, but at least you know that you can rule out the worst case scenario. The Trout Quintet is still playing and the ... more
