Definitely agree with the other reviewers that this is a great album...one of my favourite tracks is
the one that lends itself to the name of the album- Listen Here! A great piece of jazz that is going to be one of my all time favourite tracks among all the jazz CDs I own. The whole album is great ... more |

A very good album and great music as the reviewers here have emphasised...just two things to emphasise: As with the Columbia Records Kind of Blue, this Columbia release is understated in its use of MC...More for ambiance or to create space around instruments rather than the music is coming from all ... more |

I was originally put off by what I thought to be a "cheesy" cover; two grown men playing cowboys, but
I decided to pick up the CD when I saw it on sale. I was very pleasantly surprised by this album.
It is jazz with Jamaican grooves. The album also claims to have western themes (hence the cowboy ... more |

if you are looking for something that has a Loreena McKennit/new age flavour with an
international twist. The sounds and melodies are from a selection of different

I was wondering if anyone could help sort the differences between the Jazz at the Pawnshop SACDs that are available out there. I realise that most audiophiles interested in Jazz recommend the album(s)but there seem to be issues and reissues from the same label and from different labels. Some are quite reasonably priced whereas others are quite ... more |

Again thanks for the recent suggestions-I hadn't thought of chesky recordings thinking they were mostly classical or something...I read the reviews of the Bucky Pizzarelli: Swing Live and I think I will definitely get it...the price from amazon uk from us sellers seems like a bargain. ... more |

I was just wondering if anybody out there has some recommendations for good traditional Jazz SACDs-keeping in mind the following criteria:
-The Jazz has to be traditional;bluesy/swinging/ballads (Ray Brown/Gene Harris type Jazz)/no modern/no fusion
-studio recordings of trios and quartets preferred;feels more intimate/no orchestral Jazz
-The ... more |
