This Peer Gynt comes on two discs so what is on offer is not simply extented highlights of the 'appropriate music' Grieg wrote for Ibsen's drama. What you hear is theatre rather than concert hall much I thought like a production for 'Drama on 3' which is broadcast on Sunday evenings by the BBC here ... more

Summer promotions are great! On special offer I thought this sacd hybrid issue of Mahler's so-called 'Tragic' symphony a good buy. I enjoyed it. I bought this disc when it first came out and no problems which leads me to suggest if you buy - and its a good performance IMHO - I would make sure you buy from a reputable supplier like, as you are in the UK, Amazon (not a Marketplace seller) or Crotchet then if you have any problems you should be able to sort it out without any hassle ... more

Although Amazon is not directly involved in any Marketplace transactions they do have a vested interest in making sure things go fairly smoothly. I have had one or two problems with Amazon sellers and in each case I reported it to Amazon and they helped sorted it out fairly quickly. Andrewb Firstly as far as the disc you have bought is concerned if there was nothing visible via the front or back of the jewel case (which I presume was shrinkwrapped at the time of purchase) to indicate a live recording then you have every right IMHO to return it to the seller saying sorry but not fit for purpose! I have tended to avoid discs ... more
