When you open the digipak the first thing you see is “ Proudly Presenting-The South King Street Band-featuring arrangements by Peter Beckett and vocals by Eleanor McEvoy.” After listening to the album that sums it up pretty darn good.

John in his review wasn't to thrilled with this release. Being as I had already ordered but not received it I was disappointed and felt I had wasted my money. A very nice DVD/SACD set. It's good to watch the performance because it helps to enhance the listening experience of the SACD.

I had not heard John Hiatt previously but had heard of him.
This album is a cross between the sonics of a David Elias SACD and a Bob Dylanesque voice. John voice is gravelly but not piercing. Songs and arrangements similar to the new David Elias album.

This has always been my favorite Elton John album.
Liner notes say they were inspired by The Band's earthy music for this album and it shows in its' country tinge. This isn't a typical Elton John album in that it had no hit songs and wasn't nearly as pop. A definite country/rock feel to the album ... more |

I bought the DVD version because I thought my SACD became defective after a year or two of use but it had breakup and skipping problems at the same points. | I've always considered it as necessary when playing rock/pop music. There are very few discs where I like every track on an album. I even liked the memory feature that remembered you favorite tracks, just pop in the disk hit favorites and it played them. | Depends on the disc you listen too. The two Billy Joel MCH discs have the voice coming from the center channel only. When my CC was in for repair I missed it on a few disc but not most. The Billy Joel discs being more the exception than the rule. The CC is nice to have but not a requirement in general. ... more |
