Could not agree less than with the above comment from swestbom.A beautiful performance and recording fully deserving of the accolades it has won.If you experience any distortion then you should look at your playback equipment. The recording is nigh on perfect-close to provide impact but with plenty ... more
Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade - Reiner      (4 of 4 found this review helpful)

When I read on this site about an exciting Mahler 6 from Gergiev, yesterday, I decided to play the only SACD of his in my collection, one of my first buys, his Philips'Sheherazade. The recording was as bad as I remembered it and the performance pretty average. I asked her about whether her SACDs were to be discontinued by Hyperion. The answer was "yes, unfortunately". She cited the additional costs and that "it never really caught ... more

In Angela's case it was not only the performance that helped sell me on her cycle but also that she played a Fazioli and she obviously feels that its sound is important or otherwise she would be happy with a Steinway. The extra special something that this brings is evident on the SACD mc mix and is a joy to hear. I doubt whether I will feel the ... more

She will be in Sydney in October and is doing a public forum so if someone else doesn't raise this, I will. Her recordings in SACD have been regular buys for me-the CD's won't. ... more
Did Telarc get out of the SACD business

Couldn't agree more. The idea of listening to ,say, a symphony with visuals of the conductor waiving his arms about and close ups of the players is ridiculous. BD has great potential for opera and ballet, but for concert music, no way! ... more
