Cat Stevens: Tea for the Tillerman        (5 of 6 found this review helpful)

I didn't know this album prior to buying this one so I've nothing to compare it with sonically. I didn't know Cat Stevens music very well to be honest. That being said what strikes me about this SACD are the very natural dynamics. It's hard to believe that these wide dynamics came from a tape. There ... more

Mobile Fidelity takes like forever to finally release a title. I've always assumed that this was to maximize the sound. I like their work. But this is a very bad release. Why they bothered doing this one in the first place puzzles me. I have MP3s that sound better. Don't waste your money on this ... more

How do they do it? Years after the big labels stopped adding new titles to their SACD libraries this happens. This album comes out. Crisp, dynamic, with an extraordinary sound stage and totally balanced as if it was recorded yesterday. The only thing that reveals the albums age is the way it's been ... more

The SACD I've been waiting for since the introduction of the format. I own the original 1977 vinyl album as well as the 30th anniversary lp from Cisco. I own the normal cd and the MFSL version both. Other than with the other reviewer I immediately noticed the leap forward in quality. The music is ... more

Although I'm Dutch myself I don't care much for Dutch music. I don't like the sound of our language much where singing is involved. Most music I listen to comes from the states and the UK. What I don't like about a lot of these productions is the fact that they are heavily compressed and over ... more

Not meant to insult any of you. Let me put it this way. An SACD will never be better than the master it was made from. I think we can agree upon that. 'Gaucho' has been a superior sounding album even when it first arrived. So for me there is no need to compare 'Aja' with 'Gaucho' again 30 years or so later. Just as I'm not comparing the all ... more

I can't believe what I'm reading. I own the original 1977 vinyl album as well as the 30th anniversary edition by Cisco. I own the redbook CD and the MFSL remaster. Now I'm spinning the SACD for the third time in a row as we speak. This is way, way better than the 30th anniversary version. Dynamic, well balanced without a trace of sharpens. Any ... more
