Michel Sardou: Du Plaisir      (1 of 1 found this review helpful)

This is Michel's best album to this date! Changing the musicians for this album was an insipred move: the album is fresh and full of new life. Songs sound natural and open, they just seem to flow efortlessly. All great albums sound like this. The SACD sounds great too, the sound is warm and open, ... more

I am not going to discuss the performance here because I absolutely LOVE all Patricia barber's albuma. Sonically speaking this SACD is (like all the other Patricia Barber SACDs) one of the best SACDs I've ever heard! Absolutely stunning!

I fully 100% agree with you - but unfortunately I'm afraid you'll start an endless discussion again... There will be lots of replies from people who have never listened to a good multichannel system (decoding done by good multichannel player -> pure analogue multichannel preamplifier -> 5 mono power amps -> full range speakers) explaining how ... more

Indeed, I agree that this is entirely personal - but only looking at SACD numbers does not say everything. I have today 304 SACDs in my collection - this looks OK, but is still not much considering that I have in total over 2100 albums in my music collection. I have bought many of these discs in the past years when I was a big supporter of this ... more

I think this is a perfectly objective and valid opinion which sums it up pretty nicely. I think what should play an important role in your decision is the kind of music you are listening to. If you're mostly listening to classical music, then investing in a SACD player makes sense. If you are a jazz listener, it still makes some sense, but less. ... more
Lack of video caused SACD's demise?

I have to admit I also have serious doubts about the quality of the CD layer in hybrid SACDs. My player has also slowly been giving up reading the CD layer on these discs. Until recently I was convinced there was a problem with the player, but when I ripped the CD layers of my Hybrid SACDs to my music server, I encountered lots of problems with the ... more
