Willie Nelson: Stardust      (1 of 9 found this review helpful)

Sorry but I don't get this. Take an average pensioner off the street and ask them to sing in a studio. That's what I get. Production is cheesy. Wish I could be more positive I have really tried to like this SACD since it was released.
Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here        (4 of 5 found this review helpful)

Wish You Were Here is essentially a Gilmour album and SACD was always going to make the sound more theatrical. Just two of my preconceptions after years of owning this album in several formats and versions. This is an amazing mastering which has made me completely re-evaluate this album. It does ... more
Peter Gabriel: Melt      (2 of 3 found this review helpful)

Agree with the last but one review. I would go further and say that the opening track feels like my ear drums are being attacked with broken bottles. I want to enjoy this but cannot listen to it all the way through. I think the bass and mids are there but are drowned by a boost in the top ... more
Allman Brothers Band: At Fillmore East      (5 of 6 found this review helpful)

I am not going to add significantly to what has already been said. This is just to say that I also have the original and I really wondered what all the fuss was about with this album. Thanks for the feedback guys. Well that really doesn't make sense. With my Pioneer SC-LX86 receiver doing all of the number crunching and jitter control of the partnering Pioneer transport there is no presence whatsoever (not something my system can usually be accused of). Will give it another listen but really not very hopeful. Especially ... more

Someone help me. How can my impression of this release be so different to what has been written? Honestly? I find it mushy, bloated and dull - and that is after having to turn the level up far higher than I normally have to. I find it hard to make out a snare drum or cymbal in most tracks. It would make perfect sense if that's the way the master ... more
