| I agree with THomas about the virtues of Stravinsky's own recording for CBS, and the Muti/ Philadelphia. Muti's performance is my personal favourite. He seems to have studied Stravinsky's own recording in terms of tempi and balance, but has the inestimable advantage of the Philadelphia orchestra. At least the Stravinsky is on SACD. | The Handel Op6 Concerto Grosso set is one I'll buy even without waiting to read somebody's review. The Telarc SACD is only of half the set, since an earlier plain CD was released. | Sorry, the earlier release WASN'T a hybrid, but a single layer. The packaging was very deceptive, not stipulating it was a single layer disc unless it said so only in Japanese. I have plenty of gamelan CDs, but this SACD is by far the best gamelan recording of the lot-- it reproduces that high frequency 'shimmer' of clashing harmonics which you ... more | |

| What's going on here? I already have this, as the cover is identical, with its previous serial number-- XSGL1. That SACD is a hybrid multichannel release, so it isn't like the Sony Bernstein Mahler 1 which was a single layer stereo release but reissued as a hybrid. ... more | |
