This is a solid SHm Sacd release here. Caravan was a very good prog-rock band. They appeal to listeners who like music that might be less mainstream and more creative. Caravan certainly was creative.

I was very happy when the SHm Sacd program came back to life late last year after a brief hiatus. I do. however want to mention that after careful consideration I have to say that the sound of these new sacds are different from the first batch of titles. To my ears there is no doubt that a different musical flavouring has occurred.

The previous Shm Sacds sounded very much like the tape source from which the transfers were derived.... complete with an airy quality, delicate and natural tape hiss and phenomenal dynamics. These new discs are a tad veiled, feature no tape hiss and sound much more like vinyl records. There seems to be a slight roll off of top end. They sound pleasant but laid back. Perhaps the hardware used has been changed. Maybe some noise reduction going on? I don't know how else to articulate the sound difference. But there is most definitely a difference.

Now having stated this......I still feel that this new Caravam release sounds excellent in all regards. Just different from lets say.......their first sacd released by Universal JAPAN. The seven tracks on this sacd feature excellent music. Great guitar work mixed with violin. Some nice synth additions and you have a terrific album.

From start to finish I was engrossed by this sacd.

Very much recommended with good mastering.
