The music is fantastic and what a lineup of musicians. First rate performance musically, unfortunately the sound is extremely poor and all over the board in quality with none of it being close to what is achievable. It's not that old so I don't understand whether it's a bad mastering or poor source to begin with but I doubt the latter as I have heard much worse originals that sounded pretty good with remastering.

I just discovered this disc (along with Peter Green) this weekend and I am mesmerized by it. The musicians are not even Peter Green but competent they are. Aside from cuts 2 and 3, which are more rock than blues, the album really kicks out some wailing/crying/self pitying blues the likes of which I have never ever heard. I admittedly am not an expert on this type of music but I know when I have been seduced and seduced I was. The playing (a mixture of electric and acoustic guitar and other blues band stuff) is first rate and the recording is yet another Steve Hoffman product produced through some trick tube gear that really sounds great IMS.
I read the stuff that comes with the disc and Green sounds like a very facinating but tortured individual trying to rid himself of whatever demons he posesses and does his music ever communicate that in a raw 'emotions on the sleeve' kind of way. But when he is lyrical he is very sensitive and when raunchy, very raunchy. Just listen to Stop Messin' Round, Albatross, Leaving Town Blues and Man of the World for some lyricism -- outstanding. Then for raunchy/funky blues try Oh Well, Looking For Somebody, Love That Burns, Rattlesnake Shake and If You Be My Baby. Good stuff!
