Its to bad that not a lot of acoustic guitar sacds are being released anymore. At least not of the pure Dsd recorded variety. Thanks to Channel for this sacd. It boasts a respectable 63 minutes of music.

THe performance is not as close miked as some and as there are two guitarists here this might be a good decision as the music can get quite busy at times. The KATONA Twins are a talented duo and I personally like their playing very much. Bachs music here as most of his music is both meditative and subtly penetrative. It just gets to you. If you know Bach I don't need to go any further.

The sound on this disc is very well recorded with the guitars having a very authentic tonality to them. There is no brightness or twangy quality's that are present on some pcm recordings. The volume level MUST be increased higher than you would normally place this setting. This mist absolutely be done. Once this is done you will find the placements of the duo is very centered and correct. In fact the guitars really sound quite real. A treat for guitar lovers.
There is some air around the guitars and a slight sound from the venue. All these attributes added together make for a very excellent and naturalistic representation of two guitarists playing in unison but counterpoint to one another. Also this recording is also an honest and accurate representation of the proceedings. There is nothing overblown.....just wonderful classical music. I will state it again......if the volume is increased accordingly the lifelike and real quality of the recording is very palpable and most enjoyable.

If you own other acoustic guitar discs and have a definite feels for what constitutes a good sounding disc I can give you the thumbs up to purchase this sacd.

I am not into downloading and have not interested in this. I will miss Channel Classics once they leave the sacd market and the physical format. They are a company that simply gets better and better at what they do. They gather the best talent available and record wonderful music.

Highly recommended. Play this sacd as loud as you can and you are in for a treat. As with virtually all of Channel Classics sacds over the last 4 years......when the changed hardware and cabling.....this disc is awesome.
