A CLASSIC RECORDING AND ALBUM.

Its truly sad to see the Shm Sacd program gone. I feel that their sacd's were the very best in sound quality. The sound quality the mastering tech's achieved was extra special. The majority of the Shm Sacd's were truly singular in the sound department. Its something to do with transparency or a decibel level thing. Hard to put my finger on it.

This sacd really shines. The horn instruments are simply spectacular sounding.
The compositions are constructed in the classic jazz manner of the day. Which should translate into 'GREAT'.
There is a little bebop flavoring here and there on some tracks...which I am not a big fan of. But the first track is simply one of the great jazz tracks ever done. Taken as a whole........there is not much in the way of drum solos....Bill Evans piano is pushed back in the mix most of the time although he does solo once or twice. But its the trumpet and sax that are killers on this recording. Simply amazing playing and sound.

I don't want to belabor this review with to much description.

If you are a fan of this album I heartily recommend this shm sacd.

Its a fantastic Dsd transfer and the sound is awesome.
The music is equally splendid.

Highly recommended.
