One of the great vocalists of the last 40 years. Most of his great songs are on this compilation but as seems to be the norm with greatest hits packages....... not all. The original recordings were for the most part well recorded and this is the reason why the sound is good on this sacd.

But lets be completely honest. The transfer was done from low rez pcm masters not the original master tapes.

Still I am surprised and somewhat impressed because the sound is decent enough. I own many sacd's that are sourced from pcm masters (WE WERE CHEATED) that sound glassy, flat and abrasive. This sacd for the most part retains some full bodied and warm sound. On some tracks the soundstage is most impressive but this is because of the original recordings.

The first track is the famous "This is it" and it is the most impressive track on this collection. Beautiful sound indeed.
The rest varies from very good to fairly good. The music belies its trasferred origins when the sound gets deeps and expansive. Things flatten out and diminish in intensity when the sound should continue to bloom.

But overall the sound is consistent. Loggins voice is a wonder and at times it gets edgy. But this is rare. The music is solid and convincing overall and the songs still hold up well after the years since we first heard them. Most songs ofcourse but not all.

Recommended with less reservations than I normally have when sacds are sourced from pcm masters.

This pop/male vocal SACD includes a lot of top 40 hits and is very well recorded. I'm pleased that I bought it.
