Performance:   Sonics:
This is a curious release--a bit of a Frankenstein monster of edits between Bitches' Brew/Silent Way out-takes and live concert shows where John McLaughlin sat in with Davis's crew on Dec. 19, 1970 @ The Cellar Door in D.C. for only 1 night. Lots of loose jams sometimes jell into something interesting, sometimes not, but MD is fine form throughout.

Bob Belden supervised this re-mix, but it's only in stereo, as it was done in 1997. As such, this particular release not totally satisfying as a whole, with some interesting jams being cut off right as they are getting interesting.

The fidelity is messy in spots--McLaughlin's amplifier buzz being especially annoying during quiet interludes.

And the coda of the final cut sounds like a voice-over done over an audience tape(!).
