How can I be the first to review this? Well, for those in know : Yeh? YEHHH? YEHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

For those who havn't heard of the Pixies, they've probably not realised that the biggest release on SACD since the complete Rolling Stones issue has just occured.

The Pixies are one of the few modern bands to make top shelf Rock'n'Roll with catchy tunes, intelligent lyrics (yeh, seriously) blended with a real original sound. Oh, and did I mention its really fun singing in the shower music?

These guys take off where the Beatles left off.. fun on the first listen and for the casual listener but keep on delivering on subsequent listenings.

Now, turn your system up to a rock volume level, press play on the CD and run back to your seat before the track starts. I'm not going to spoil the fun, but Mobile Fidelity don't have a reputation for fidelity without reason.

When you hear the cymbols and toms toms start your going very happy, since you've just had a glimpse of how well recorded rock music can sound, this is what the Beatles would have sounded like if they'd got to record 20 years later (and John got a few more fuzz boxes).

Listen to track , Bone Machine and then just let it roll.. the tunes change all the way through, so if you don't like any on a first listen, theres more to come.

If track 5, Gigantic and 6, River Euphrates don't do it for you... well I'd be lost for words. Did you like Abbey Road?

My first and only ever 5/5.

Very pleased with this release. I first listened to the Pixies from the Fight Club soundtrack, and I will say this SACD done by none other than MFSL is lightyears beyond my first experience. It's tight, clean and punchy. The haunting background vocals on Where is my Mind raises goosebumps.

Well, when i saw this album announced by Mofi in SA-CD format, i instantly imagine an edition of This Mortal Coil's, Filigree and Shadow in SA-CD by Mofi...Ok it was just an idea, but Surfer Rosa was always a delayed aquisition, having Doolittle and Bossanova in standard cd editions by 4AD, this title came late but in grand style; a Mofi Special Limited Editon Nº.01685!
Not only the edition is limited, the adjective suits the music too, but its a matter of time to get tuned with Surfer Rosa! Bossanova was much easier for me.
Now,talking about the sound, which is the issue here, since this work isn´t new! If you listen this without seeing the media, you notice that is a MFSL editon at once, the tonal balance is excelent, definition is very good too, although the mass of sound is hudge, its kept in order! The sound stage widith, height and deepth are quite good.
I gave 3,5 Stars to sound quality, because this site dont have a 3,75 Stars icon, but thats what i really give to the Sound Quality: 3,75 Stars!

Regards
