I really like RLJ, thinking of Pop Pop, Traffic from Paradise or It´s like this, but this record is of special lo-fi sound which they are obviously proud of (why then make a high resolution SACD out of that junk?)and the songs are of a quality that each averaged talented teenage songwriter can deliver. Not very much inspired by the god they sing of 13 songs long. I could´nt listen to that stuff twice. Very disapointing!

Here's an off-the-wall project. Rickie Lee Jones took the writings of a friend about Jesus and decided to reshape them into here own lyrics and music. On first impression, the words are somewhat hit and miss, but the music has a raw, organic flavor to it, mostly hard rock, but also some slower more meditative tunes. The surrounds nicely enhance the mix, with background vocals occasionally sprouting in the rear along with selected quitar parts. The surrounds are one piece with the raw, driving instrumentation mostly in evidence here. They flavor the music without calling attention to themselves. I call this one a winner.
