As if all the other editions in Arts Music complete cycle of Shostakovich's symphonies were not impressive enough, this one of Symphonies 3 & 14 goes to the head of the class.
In terms of sound and performance it is a Sonic Spectacular. Soundstage depth, height & imaging seem infinite.
The composers "avante garde" experimental 3rd symphony while understandably not popular should be heard for every nuance of sound eminating from the orchestra is noteworthy.
Symphony 14 has Soprano Marina Poplavskaya heard center and left channel while Baritone Mikhail Davidov is heard center and right to amazing effect. Each of the 11 movements are performed and recorded to maximum audiophile characteristics. Their vocalizations are perfect.
What a pleasure to hear these symphonies as presented here.
