Great American Music (review from amazon.com)
I remember listening to this when it was on cassette tape many years ago. My dad would play it over and over again in the car whenever we would go on long road trips. So I'm glad that it's available for an MP3 download now; I've been listening to it in my iPod in the car, reliving old memories.

This album is perfect for fans of American/Western music. It has classic Western TV themes, such as "Bonanza," "Rawhide," and "Wagon Train". Whoever picked the William Tell Overture as the theme for the Lone Ranger was a genius, and it's inclusion is apposite for this CD. Then, there are rousing movie themes, such as "Big Country," "How the West Was One," and my personal favorite of the movie themes here, "Silverado." Further, the late, great vocalist Frankie Laine gives a great rendition of the theme song to "High Noon"; his version is an improvement on Tex Ritter's original, IMO. For me, the highlight of this CD is the medley of classic western songs- "Ti Yi Yippee Yippee Ay," "Shenandoah," "Red River Valley," "Home on the Range," and "Streets of Laredo." The men's chorus singing these songs has a beautiful, warm sound.

So, all you fans of Classical, Western, American, Movie, and TV music, buy or download this CD- you'll listen to it over and over again.

Could have done without the sound effects (review from amazon.com)
This is a great CD, but they could have flushed the sound effects, like the cows and the fire crackling. If I wanted a sound effects CD- I would buy one. This is one of the earlier Cincinatti Pops CD's that was pretty much ruined by the irrelevant sounds.

not worth the upgrade (review from amazon.com)
Yes, the music is great. But the surround quality is problematic. It seems the surround engineering was done by two people who did not listen to each other's approach.
Instrument placing is great on half of the disc (superb Magnificent Seven), but the other half has far too much music coming from the center speaker (compare Silverado on sacd and cd). It's as if one engineer wants you to relive the movies with cinema like surround, and the other one wants you to experience a front row seat in a dry sounding concert hall.
The cd still stands as a perfect disc to show off your non-surround system. Leave it at that.

A Great CD For All Music Lovers! (review from amazon.com)
This a wonderful CD and serves as a great intro to Classical Music for the novice. It's also an audiophile favorite in that it's beautifully recorded and mastered and will bring out the best in a fine stereo sytem.

Tai Ay Yippe Yippe Ay (review from amazon.com)
This is Eric Kunzel's ROUND-UP (like always his arrangements are excellent). This CD will grab you from the start and transport you to the great expanses of the American west.
