Antonini's work with Il Giardino Armonico has pushed the boundaries of music in recent years and this collaboration with the Basel Chamber Orchestra is no exception. The 1st symphony especially has a vivaciousness that many other conductors have ignored. Both symphonies have roots in the music of Haydn, but Antonini effectively brings the tenacity and gusto of Beethoven into every passage.

Highly recommended.
