Performance:  Sonics:
Penderecki is in his smooth and mellow form in all of these compositions, which are eminently listenable.

The Trio for strings and the Sextett are the main works contained on the recording and they are very attractive pieces, with a very subtle interplay of sonorities. Their importance in the modern canon of chamber music remains to be seen, but to me they sound as quite the best compositions for these instrumental combinations in quite a while.
The disc is filled with 2 works for cello solo (composed with Rostropovich in mind) and a viola composition, both of which take full advantage of the range and tonal possibilities of both these instruments.

The interpretation of the Prazak Quartet and guest soloists is top-notch, as it is the norm in this label. And the sound is excellent and crisp, which, to me, is essential in the chamber music recordings. Space and ambiance around the instruments, so they have "room" to develop their tonal possibilities.

In sum, an extraorinary disc.
