| Beg, borrow or steal the money to buy this cd. It's Dvorak's centennial & we'll be hearing the Ninth Symphony a lot this year, but this interpretation is still fresh and rewarding. Although the barebones is still there, this is a radical reworking by Dvorak that allows the pianists plenty of room for creativity. These transcriptions were popular in the days before radio & recordings, allowing the public to hear a big piece of music without the expense of hiring an orchestra, & unlike Liszt, Dvorak gives us the whole piece, nearly 42 minutes long! A great recording, beautiful playing, one of the most popular orchestral works of the late 19th century created anew, who could ask for more?
