Performance:  Sonics:
A much better performance than the Ashkenazy recording and in better sound. Suntory Hall (on the Ashkenazy recording) is a terrible venue. Kobayashi's recording is much fuller and richer. The performance is well done. Kobayashi specializes in Tchaikovsky and other romantic composers and I believe he gets everything right here (except for his persistent grunting). Recommended.

MCh Tchaikowsky Symphony #5 Kobayashi /Czech Philharmonic. This is one of my favorite Tchaikowsky symphonies. Excellent performance! Orchestra knew its stuff and conductor created very strong powerful music. Sound is excellent too. Very "Tchaikowsky" sound I used to hear from best Russian Orchestras. Highly Recommended
