The Sacred Music of Monteverdi is among the truly great compositions of this kind in the history of Music. The interpretations of the King´s Consort are top notch. The various voices have years of specialization in this field and it shows.

The sound is quite detailed , with depth and clarity, which is important in choral music of this type, where text ennunciation is quite important.

Hyperion does it again.

As you might guess from my sign-on name, the music of Monteverdi holds great meaning and significance for me. It is for me, music for the soul.
It is with pleasure that I recommend this new first volume recording with Robert King and The King’s Consort.
Monteverdi with Mr. King’s exceptional ensemble in multi-channel Super Audio is a dream fulfilled. I eagerly look forward to the next in the series with the promise of a SACD 1610 Vespers!
