'Daylight, Moonlight: Live in Yakushiji' is essentially a live concert that was performed by Kitaro in 2001. Kitaro performed concerts on three summer evenings in the holy Temple of Yakushiji, located in Nara, Japan. This album covers the best of what was played at the concerts. Most of the songs on this album are well known pieces of work produced by Kitaro. Some would say that this makes the album redundant, since the music on this album can be found on Kitaro's other CDs and albums. However, there is special feel and aura surrounding the work on this album - since it was performed live at a holy temple. The atmosphere and feel behind the music is fantastic. That is why I would highly recommend this album.
For those who are unfamiliar with Kitaro's music, it is often described as music for meditation. It goes further than that. It's all about music from the heart and soul, and conveying the Earth, nature and the surrounding environment into the music. The music that he produces is really unique.
This 2 CD album is overall a fantastic collection of Kitaro's music. Songs such as 'Free Flight' and 'Estrella' haven't been heard for a while in Kitaro's work, whilst songs such as 'Silk Road' are commonly known about amongst Kitaro's fans.
I have no reservations about recommending this album to new or old Kitaro fans - or to those who have never heard Kitaro's work.
