Joe Cocker: With A Little Help From My Friends, Hybrid SACD, Stereo Only.

Beautiful, full and rich, quite a gem. My friends and I used to mimic his crazy gyrations, the Elvis Presley of my generation. MY AF #0859.

Quick Facts: Joe Cocker's first album released in 1969. And as you know the Woodstock movie, put him on the map. He is deceased. This disc released in 2015.

Performance: The master of a cover artist. On the show American Idol Jimmy Iovine says, take a song from somebody else and make it your own, well Cocker made a career of this and this disc is no exception. The title, "A Little Help From My Friends" is to the point with notables Jimmy Page, Steve Winwood and gang.

Stereo Sonics: Super good. Deep bass, wide sound stage, depth of stereo, great resonance of percussion, vocals dead center. Al instruments blend most excellent even with organ in background.
Kudos to Audio Fidelity, as Rammiepie has said on the Rock Thread, AF are not afraid to be leaders in the SACD market. True. Space between tracks is crystal clear with good beginnings and endings of tracks. The star of the show, Joe Cocker, sounds absolutely fantastic.
I listened at 69.5 decibels, HDMI out, 88.2 Khz through A/V receiver.

Packaging: Plastic Jewel case with AF typical cover. Mini paper booklet with original liner notes and AF notes, sparse, and great musician credits on each track.

I hope my review was helpful. If not, email me and tell me why.

Sound is OK for a SACD but not special. I compared the sound of this SACD with the same tracks included in Mr. Cocker´s box set Long Voyage Home. There is an evident difference in the quality of the sound but it is not huge. SACD sounds bolder and with a somehow better instrument separation and image, but at the end there is nothing special with this disc. If you do not own the pieces these are the best versions you can get, if you own a good redbook version, well.. it is up you.
