Perusing the Music Direct website, I noticed the upcoming SACD release of The Chicago Transit Authority's first album.

Three or four years ago, Rhino Records released a very limited (now OOP) edition of said album on a lossy DTS 96/24 DVD.

The mix was astounding.........fully discreet and incredibly dynamic.

Unfortunately, MoFi is slated to release this album in stereo only.

I did e~mail them concerning my dissatisfaction with this decision citing that Analogue Productions does include a discreet mix when available (Norah Jones: Come Away With Me and Dave Brubeck Time Out)

The 96/24 4.0 mix is already done but knowing that MoFi has sworn off mch SACD releases I begged them to include it on their upcoming CTA remaster.

If interested, please e~mail Music Direct and do the same if you have any interest in hearing this classic Chicago album in amazingly discreet multichannel, as well.

Men can move mountains but can MoFi be moved to break the mold and release SACDs in multichannel?

Are there any "direct" contactpersons (e-mail) concerning upcoming sacd-projects (or suggestions) by Analogue Productions, MoFi & Audio Fidelity?

Tim, I just went to Music Direct's website and on the upper right hand corner you will find "Quick Find".....click onto that and then access "Customer Support" and you can type in your e~mail.

Would help if more of us multichannel lovers would voice our concerns, especially when a 4.0 or 5.1 track is available.

Today, I received a reply from Josh Bizar, Director of sales/marketing @ Music Direct/Mobile Fidelity.

It reads: "Since you asked so politely, we are checking into the possibilities of adding the 4.0 surround mix to the SACD. There are many different problems with getting licenses like this added onto existing contracts, so no promises. It's a good idea and would be a special release for us if this could happen. Keep your fingers crossed........."

BTW, I consider this Chicago's masterpiece.........The 4.0 Rhino 'DTS' version IS special but it's NOT SACD multichannel in terms of sound quality.

Well, I think Chicago II is their masterpiece, but since I have the DVD-Audio of it, I'm covered.

Well, Sam, to each his own. I also own the DVD~A of Chicago II but grew up listening to the original CTA which started the ball rolling.

Too bad Rhino went to the trouble of accessing the original QUAD elements and committed it to lossy DTS 4.1 in the first place (as they also did with Aretha Franklin's Greatest Hits....also DTS 4.0.....a Dynamic album, to be sure., as well)

I'm the one who wrote them (MoFi) a lengthy email about a year ago informing them of RHINO's excellent but LOSSY DTS 4.0 release of CTA and they told me that it would indeed be a special release if this, indeed, came to pass but in a recent email exchange with them, they reiterated that they would only be "faithful" to the original master tapes in which case that would be STEREO.

Fingers crossed too....am sure with AF firing away with their spate of 5.1 and 4.0 releases, the time might well have come.

Adam, do you have the Rhino 4.0 "Quadradisc" DVD of CTA? "INSANE" surround envelopment....right up your alley, my friend.

Yes I know you wrote to them! It seems they may well have listened to what you had to say after all.., plus I'm sure you're right they've seen how well AF's Surround SACDs have been received and want a slice of the pie! I have the CTA Quadio (it's the dogs' dangles!) and the Aretha Quadio but that's a different story..
