I'll be getting mine from Amazon, coming tomorrow and a lot cheaper.

Had to do the same from the american Amazon, though I live in France. It seems all the european stocks were pre-ordered very quickly.

I pre~ordered mine from Amazon, as well and it was a few dollars cheaper than Acoustic Sounds but as I live in New York State they do charge sales tax..........bummer!

Still wish it was multichannel...........oh, well!

I pre-ordered mine last year from Amazon UK (at a lower price that it's now selling for), so for me there'd be no advantage buying from Amazon US. Interesting though, the base price differential.

Likewise, I still wish this was a multi-channel release.

Now I wonder what other hi-res MCH projects Steve Wilson might be working on?

I'm happy to report that I received my copy of Close to the Edge yesterday from Amazon USA (March 4th), and am listening right now!

I've never left a review (most of my discs are Classical), and listening is always very subjective. While I'm very critical of sound quality, I am much more open to different interpretations of, say, Mahler's Symphony No. 9.

NONETHELESS, it's a different kettle of tea entirely when dealing with such a seminal, important album as this (I rank it, along with ELP's Brain Salad Surgery, as one of the two most important Progressive Rock albums of all time). Obviously, there is just ONE "Close to the Edge" in terms of the studio recording that we all know and love, but suffice it to say: Steve Hoffman has hit a HUGE, walk-off Grand Slam with his work here! BUY THIS AT ALL COSTS! GET IT BEFORE IT GOES OUT OF PRINT!

Manticore - Thanks for the comments. I have only a handful of Pop/Rock SACD's in my collection - everything else is classical. But Yes is among my favorite bands from back in the day and I've always thought that Close to the Edge was indeed their best work. Extraordinary music and great playing/singing. I may have to pop for this while it is still available.

Thanks, Manticore. Just ordered mine with the always dangerous "one click" option. Looking forward to the LP comparison. I made the mistake of not procuring a copy of Brain Salad Surgery when it was first available and didn't want to repeat that costly error.

Besides not being a 5.1 surround i think is sounds great. Didn't have anything to compare it with but SQ is well balanced.

I was informed by Amazon.com yesterday that my copy has been despatched. I thought it was never going to come!

I agree with those who rate this as one of the greatest progressive rock albums of all time.
