My post is a kind of indignation and protest. This technology has never been implemented in my country. I've just got to know about SACD format through Philips Sound on Facebook. If the sound quality of the SACD is much superior than CD, why isn't the format accepted for the massive market? Unfortunatelly I can't find either players or discs in my country, Brazil. The discs are imported, but very expensive. :-(

I had/have the same problem here in South Africa, as far as the discs themselves this is not a problem I can buy anything online from the like of Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk using mostly there sellers or from British distributors such as
MDT, Presto, Crochet etc, it only takes 10 daYs for the discs to reach me.
Doing that you can also shop around and get the best prices, but please also check shipping cost. The days of buying discs in a store are over.
As far as the players I am sure that some of them are distributed in South America just check the manufacturers website.
I bought my Sony 5400 in Switzerland but this was facilitated by the fact that my niece is an air hostess on Swiss and comes to South Africa often thus was able to bring it to me.

Because the mass market moved to the lowest quality format: mp3.

If handmade brown loaf with crunchy seeds is much superior to supermarket white bread, why isn't the handmade brown format accepted by the massive market?

Yes! You're absolutelly right! I was talking to the Philips Sound representative on Facebook and we discussed about this issue. He asked me: "Does the industry or the population influence the market nowadays"? As you said the population chose the MP3 as the audio format, unfortunatelly. An audio engineer from Philips replied to me this way: "Several attempts have been made to introduce higher quality physical media for audio (e.g. SAC - Super Audio CD) but without the support from the music industry, these new standards almost never get adopted. And for most people the quality of CD audio is enough".
