Sorry if this has been discussed recently elsewhere, but has anyone heard when Oppo will be coming up with a new model? Also, what features might the new one have that the BDP-95 doesn't? (The 3-D capability I can live without!) Thanks for any info/thoughts/speculation ...

I haven't heard anything. I think the hardware on the 93/95 is pretty much universally considered adequete for its market niche, and Oppo is focusing on upgrading firmware for the models it has out.
Of course, I could be wrong. But the internets are quiet.

When I called them for a firmware update disc recently, I did enquire whether they would consider 4K x 2K upsampling for the video portion since some BD Players were implementing that capability in their players and the technician said 'they were looking into it."
As for SACD/DVD~A playback, etc........no news on that front, as yet.

I don't expect any innovations in that department, but you can be sure that the next generation Oppo player will support both formats.
The only thing I'm really missing with the Oppo 93 (digital output only) is gapless playback of files.

Thanks for the links. Yes, I'm familiar with the Oppo BDP-95 thread. I asked because, as usual, right after I bought the BDP-83 SE NuForce Edition, sure enough, the BDP-95 came out. I am a two channel analog freak, both by choice and by necessity (very small NYC apartment). I'd hate to get tmpatient regarding an upgrade by buying the BDP-95 only to have the same thing happen again!

I'd wait one more year.

Dear Lunna, Whatever you do, listen and compare first before you buy. From my experience with the BDP 95 related in other posts here, it is entirely possible that your "Nuforce" 83 actually has better SQ than the stock version of the BDP95. Besides I think most dedicated SA-CD players have spent more money on quality parts than most "do it all" players like the OPPO's.

Bought and sold the BDP-83SE NuForce years ago on my blue collar blues road to disc play nirvana. Discovered since then don't like component fans, don't like interfacing monitor devices to disc players, and what is revelatory for one person may be ho-hum for another. This old school simpleton favoring dedicated two-channel gear is happiest with the absolute minimum of do-dads contained within his gear. Yes unbelievably there are audiophile dinosaurs still roaming the forum forests.
