Ordered mine the day it came out, should be interesting what changes he has done to this MCH version beside the few new selections.
After a couple of listens Mr. Tomita has remixed to some degree all the tracks just for this SACD. Surround mix is a little odd but I like it except that sometimes the rear is a little loud compared to the front. He could have done without the 2nd track, just don't really blend in with any of the other cuts except at the very end. Overall I like it. I wish it was 4.1 and not 4.0, just have to crank up the bass a little.

This is the first Tomita music I heard, way back around 1975 on LP. A wonderful album.
I'm pleased to hear it's in MCH, although I can't see that mentioned anywhere on the CD Japan site. Unless I'm overlooking the obvious.

CD Japan did not mention that its in surround. I have the SACD and its a hybrid with 4.0 surround, 2 channel SACD and Enhanced CD layer. Not sure what Enhanced CD layer means. Everything is in Japanese.

Thanks Thomas.
I wonder why they haven't actually named the album "Snowflakes are Dancing", rather than "Clare de Lune". Not terribly important, just curious. I guess this is a complete re-make of the original?
Do you have any other of the Tomita hi-res albums?
I have "The Planets 2003" DVD-A, which is wonderful. I'd love the other albums in MCH hi-res.

Even though I'm Debussied out (having just purchased the new Chandos 2 disc SACD/Walter Giesking's 4 disc EMI set), I was always a sucker for this electronic ditty (having owned it on Quad Open Reel and dolby encoded RBCD).
Should be a trip, in any case, especially in discrete 4.0....placed my order today.

I also have the Planets ultimate edition on SACD. Wasn't one of my favorites from him. From what I read on his website he is remixing many of his works to SACD.

I suppose I've been a sucker to - some of which comes from nostalgia. Although I'd dipped my toes into classical/orchestral music before (a bit), it was Tomita (and to a lesser degree, ELP) that sparked my curiosity. Whilst it's true that I struggle to listen to electronic music as much as I did 30 years ago, my Tomita "The Planets 2003" always brings a smile to my face. Much in the same way that my Kraftwerk SACD does. For me, they're not for every occasion, but very enjoyable now and again.
I'd love to hear your opinions on this Tomita SACD after you've had a chance to sample it.

Now that's good news. Bring on "Pictures at an Exhibition".
