Why is this Exton SACD sampler ¥14,251 or US$178.85?

Similar to past direct cut Exton SACDs that sell for 20000 yen.

I remember buying the 10 box Exton SACD Sampler set (full performances) + 1 RBCD for $100 + shipping from CDJapan a few years ago.
Does anyone care to comment on the superiority of direct cut SACDs?
BTW, it's a hybrid disc which includes a RBCD layer.

What the hell is a "direct-cut SACD"? Orchestra playing in the injection molding plant cellar while disks are slowly made one at the time? That would explain the price...
A Tibetan rug makes the average system sound better than paying for "direct cut" or "SHM" disks.

In either case, the wool is being pulled over one's ears for sure!

I feel no need to crawl under a carpet while listening to my system, unlike you, Rammipie.
By the way, BIS uses normal high quality microphone cables, mostly Mogami brand. Now it is your turn to come up with major, or any, recording labels or studios/halls using esoteric $$$$ cables.

Are you still neurosing over those Shunyata Research cables which transformed my system? Better than spending thousands for OOP Open Reel Quad Tapes and SACDs (check out some of the outrageous prices on e~bay).
At least I have something to show for it.
And would I spend $180+ on a direct cut SACD from Exton............absolutely, unequivocally NO! Not when I can purchase 10 SACDs + 1 RBCD in a boxed set from Exton for a little over $100 (see post above).

Rammipie I'll give you a hand here, I mentioned audiophile recording companies before to AmonRa, I guess he forgot. Telarc uses MIT and Monster Cable pro microphone cables and even internally wired their recording consoles with Monster Cable. http://www.stereophile.com/content/jack-renner-telarc-direct-cleveland
In addition nearly every single audiophile recording company uses audiophile-grade equipment for recordings including upgraded cables for everything (recording and playback), as they want NO weak links to limit their recordings. I believe this is one of the many reasons audiophile recordings sound better than "commercial" major label recordings.
