According to cdjapan-website the upcoming Decca SHM-SACDs (three Solti-re-releases in August) will be mastered by Bob Ludwig, but the masters will be 96khz/24 bit. The last three batches derived from analogue masters, what´s going there in Japan or the Universal studios? - Any ideas?

That's disappointing. The Google translation of the CD Japan page says "remastering by Bob Ludwig using 24bit/96kHz digital master." for all three titles.

I would have gotten the Mahler 5, but if this is just the 24/96 transfer made almost 10 years ago by the Emil Berliner Studios, it's off my wishlist.

What's the point in hiring a renowned mastering engineer like Bob Ludwig when he doesn't have access to the master tapes?

I hope it is an error caused by copying/pasting a Queen's listing.

I hate Bob Ludwig mastered SACDs (Queen, Police, Rolling Stones ABKCO's). They have Bob Ludwig's "kiss of death". Ughh!

However the japanese texts clearly refer to Solti and the composers, so a simple copy/paste error doesn't seem very likely

Google translation:

"Sound is dynamic! Looks like! Around the world to hear for the first time, the quality of another dimension. SHM excellent material to use to the body liquidity / transparency. In addition, his 100th birthday this year! Adopted 24bit/96kHz digital master was the method adopted (2ch) single-layer characteristics of the original live DSD, Super Audio CD Series! This Mahler Fifth was a memorable start of the legendary masterpieces of many with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Symphony, and the first recording. Structural detail was playing up to interpretation, of a complex score, which alone the charm does not fade even today."

Maybe the disc descriptions are written by robots at Universal...

Hopefully, these are going to be made by Classic Sound from the original analogue masters and will be Bob Ludwig-free.
