Hmm, note that the newly announced Pioneer receivers accept DSD file input and PureMusic enables playback of DSD files

John

There are some details here: PD-30, PD-10

Recently we have announcements for DSD streaming (Forzato DSP-01/DST-01) at the Tokyo High End show, even a portable DSD player (iBasso Audio HDP-R10). Existing DAC's are being expanded or extened to play DSD from the 20k Light Harmonic DaVince DAC (128fs) to the Fostex HP-8AC which played DSD files from memory cards but which will have USB module as well. Every week seems to bring a new DSD DAC. On the other side of the equation the new Ayre QB-A9 Pro analog to digital Converter can generate DSD256fs.

I believe that windows media player can play DSD files. Why can't other devices do that? Not even the ps3.

It's not a good time to invest in a DAC or music server. DSD support should become more prevalent in the coming months as far as computer audio is concerned ....

Over USB or Firewire? Got a model number?

Thanks.

Tom - re: PureMusic, it says native DSD streaming via USB over supported DACS. I think we know which those are at this point. Also, it says nothing explicitly about Mch support, but I am inclined to believe it is stereo only.

Hi Carl

I've asked Rob Roberson. Maybe he'll reply here, but I will when I have an answer. On the PC side, FOOBAR definitely supports multi-channel for PCM. I use it all the time for 88.2KHz PCM 6 channel files via either a AES Lynz or RME card. I can't imaging the new DSD direct plug-in for FOOBAR not being the same channel parameters as the PCM plug-in.

Thanks for the question.

How do you mean? All 64 million of them support DSD playback, even though just the first 8M do SACD.

Do you mean PS3 imposes strict requirements on the formatting, namely DSD Disc format?
