The latest release date has been pushed back to August 27th for Tarkus and ELP's first.
Perhaps those petitions did have a positive effect on the outcome.
Certainly, can't wait!
Additionally, in the works for 5.1/hi~rez stereo by Mr. Steve Wilson are: Pictures Aty An Exhibition (1971); Trilogy (1972), Brain Salad Surgery (1973) and Welcome Back My Friends To The Show That Never Ends (1974).

August 27th...
In the States it still says release date of August 14th. But now that Amazon UK pushed it back to the 27th I have a feeling it will be September release here in the States.

It took 42 years for these titles to be released in 5.1 on a 5" optical disc so I suppose waiting an extra month or so won't make a difference.
At least there will be more in the works and I hope Sony does consider SACD as a viable format for these titles to be released in the future.

Good things comes to those who wait. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

Bad news: The discs won't be SACD. Good news: The discs will be high-resolution DVD-Audio!
Steven Wilson: "The ELP / Tarkus reissues will include full res DVDAs - I talked them into it, but it's just meant delaying the release a little longer."

WE DID IT (sort of)!

That's great news. I don't mind DVD-A. I mean, this is an SACD forum but I can settle with the second best. I just bought King Crimson's Starless and Bible Black in the box set with the DVD-A and the sound quality is absolutely mind-blowing.
Looking forward to the releases.

Fantastic! Based on his work with King Crimson and Porcupine Tree Cd/ DVD-A reissues, I'm sure the ELP ones will sound great!

This really is very good news indeed, and if the releases are anything like the King Crimson DVD-As, they'll be fantastic.
I suppose if they wanted to keep everyone happy (?), the ELP albums could be DVD-A and hybrid SACD releases. I'm not being completely serious, as I couldn't imagine that ever happening - but it's an idea!
I look forward to these DVD-As very much - then I'll get shot of my ELP CDs.

That's not such a crazy idea because that's what they did with some (or all?) of the Depeche Mode re-issues. I recently ordered DM's Ultra SACD/ Hybrid CD with DVD-A. I've not got it yet, but the product description states SACD Hybrid with DVD-A.
