Queen Greatest Hit I & II on SHM-SACD will be available on 29 Aug. They're a must for Queen fans.

In fact, I was impressed with the "A night at the Opera" SHM-SACD. I rated it #1 in my SHM-SACD library.

Hi Junchoon, I have all of them, and I can guarantee you they are all excellent. Though full SA-CD resolution is not satisfied because these are released from 96KHz/24bits remasters, Bob Ludwig really did an excellent job. Maybe the albums from "A Kind of Magic" to "Made In Heaven" are a bit disappointing, but one feels Bob Ludwig did the best he could : these albums were 44.1KHz/16bits recorded, digital sound technology was still babbling so dynamics are a bit harsh.

Hi Tony Y., Agreed, this is the best one, though my own #1 are Beggar's Banquet by the Rolling Stones, the eponym Album by Dire Straits and Paranoid by Black Sabbath.

I doubt it, I suspect all Queen albums are even worse: analog multitrack tape.

Hi AmonRa, The info I gave is part Wikipedia, part Sound On Sound magazine's interviews. I am surprised you qualify analog multitrack tape as "worse" than digital recording. Of course, there's no truth in this eternal debate/comparison between A and D, yet SA-CD listeners mostly prefer A - as do I.

First: look at the specs of the best tape recorders, then the old digital recorders. No contest there, even early digital is vastly better.
Second: why do you think all classical labels eagerly adopted digital recording when it became available, even with only 2 tracks at 16/44, in lieu of analog multitrack recorders?

Huh??? Seems to have two extreme views on queen shm-sacds. Actually I was eyeing night of the opera but was put off by comments that it is below par.
Now I am not sure.
