Can anyone confirm if the SHM-SACD of Tommy by The Who is a different master from that used for the domestic Deluxe Edition (which **is** also an SACD)? It is not always clear whether SHM-SACDs have used a Japanese master tape or shared remasters as with ABKCOs Rolling Stones DSD remastered series

Booklet says: "DSD transferred from analogue master tapes by Jon Astley at Close To The Edge Mastering, 2012" Comparison with the older "Deluxe-version" seems to confirm thís information: The SHM-version reveales more details, the sound is more analogue-like, compare for example the horns, the voices. Recommended!

Stunning SACD-SHM disc its what the 96/24 format was designed for, nothing added nothing taken away, i have never heard a studio direct master tape but can believe this is a direct copy of a studio master tape.
