Best when enjoyed in small helpings, even when, as here, everything about it is delizioso.

Right, difficult to listen to 2 Sacd's in one sitting as monotony does creep in.
Myself I prefer La Stravaganza, maybe it is due to the fact that I know it better. At the same time I received "La Cetra" I got "L'Amore per Elvira"
on Linn which is not a new issue but it is fantastic, if you like Vivaldi this one is not to be missed, it is also more varied, some tracks are instrumental,
other have soprano Mhairi Lawson singing wonderfully, the recording is also superb.

This set has the fairly unique ability to be excellent and involving foreground listening, but it's also very pleasant background listening as well. I know, I know--- none of us will admit to occasionally reading a book while the music is on.

Still very cheap on Amazon. It went back up then went back down -- I suggest snagging it now as it is truly excellent.

Rachel Podger is simply brilliant at everything she does. This is a superb set although as jazz1 observed earlier in this thread, probably you will want to listen to it in bite sized chunks over a period of a time, otherwise your mind will wander however hard you concentrate.

Pretty doggone good review (10/10) at Classics Today. I'm not all that big on music from the era, but I love this set!

Yes, a very pleasant disc; delightful playing, spacious sound -- and amazingly there is lots of music which DOESN'T SOUND LIKE THE FOUR SEASONS!

A good point! A good thing, for sure! And a good laugh-- Thanks, Beagle.

I still enjoy this recording, but the more I listen to it, the more I realize that the rear channels contain too much direct sound. Does this seem to be the case with others of you who own it? I recently changed my power amp (from a Sony receiver to a Parasound Halo A 51), but since other recordings do not suddenly have a lot more rear channel volume, I don't think it's the amp.
