Actually, I think the best way to select SACD's is to browse for a selection you want here at sa-cd.net. I typically do a search for a specific work or I browse the reviews. If I find something I want, there is a list of suppliers in the upper right of the main catalog page for the disk. Click on one or more of those. Each one will take you directly to Amazon or whoever in a new window, which opens automatically. Proceed on the Amazon or whoever page with your purchase. On Amazon, you can just put it in your cart, and come back to your search here in the sa-cd.net window for another disk. When through, go back to the Amazon window for checkout of all disks in your cart. Simple and effective, with far better searching here among all SACD titles.
The other benefit is that monetary credit then goes to this site to help keep it going. That is very worthwhile because, as you will discover, this site is a fabulous resource and the world's best site devoted to music and recordings
Thanks for the tip. I will definitely try that. Browsing at Amazon is no easy feat. ...And I would be glad to have some monetary credit go to this site. I will use this for future browsing.

The Denon DVD-3910 is my first SACD player. I thought about purchasing an SACD player with more audiophile pedigree in its bloodlines, but I got a great deal on this Denon player (only $250) and I thought it would be suitable for my first foray into this format. Now, having listened to my first four SACDs I can say that I am thoroughly impressed by this Denon player. A few days ago I almost pulled the trigger on buying a used Esoteric SACD player, but I held off and I'm glad I did. It would have cost me another $1,500 and I can put that money to better use buying SACD discs. Once I have a nice collection of SACD I will revisit the idea of upgrading to a better player.

How in the world did you find that?! ...My 15 minutes of fame. I still have the jersey in the back of my closet. I don't wear it to games anymore since I've got a 5-year old in tow. ...Makes me feel kind of embarrassed thinking of all the other parents who had to come up with a good answer when their 5-year old asked them whose name was on the back of that man's jersey.

It's simple really. Go through this site via a link to something you might be interested in, put in dsd in the search page and search and this place will still get credit.

So my first four SACDs arrived in the mail yesterday (er, on the UPS truck to be more precise). I left work early today to get in some listening time before my wife and son get home. My initial thoughts on giving each disc one listen...
First disc in, THE SKY IS CRYING by Stevie Ray Vaughan. Three tracks in I'm thinking, "Hmm... sounds better than the standard CD, I think, but not knocking my socks off ... maybe blues rock is not the best genre to show off the acoustic superiority of SACD ... or maybe SACD isn't all I had hoped it would be." Then, track 4 comes on: Little Wing. ... "OH YEAH. This is what I was hoping for!" The SACD version of Little Wing kicks butt. The rest of the disc is good, but Little Wing was definitely the highlight and as a whole this disc, while certainly a huge improvement over the standard CD, was not as great as I was hoping for. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe my expectations were too high.
Thinking that blues rock may not be the best genre to show off the capabilities of SACD, I go in another direction. Second disc in, COME AWAY WITH ME by Norah Jones. Fantastic. The detail is amazing. Start to finish, I was thoroughly impressed with this SACD version. I will be listening to this disc quite frequently. ...And my enthusiasm level is back up. My wife and son get home; sensing my excitement, she feigns interest but she's not really into it. My son is off to watch one of his shows.
Disc three: BROTHERS IN ARMS by Dire Straits. I would have put this disc in second, but after the slight disappointment of the Stevie Ray Vaughn disc, I shied away from this blues rock/country rock album in favor of Norah. Now, my hopes are high again and I'm ready to give Dire Straits a spin. This disc was the show-stopper. First four tracks are all great. I feel assured that this SACD thing is a keeper. Then I get to track 5: Why Worry. AWESOME! I have to repeat this track, twice, it sounds so incredible. The rest of the disc is superb. I'm on a high from the music.
Disc four: DARK SIDE OF THE MOON by Pink Floyd. Almost as good as BROTHERS IN ARMS. ...Almost. And this disc probably demonstrates the most dramatic improvement from standard CD to SACD of the lot. I am hearing details that I've never heard before, or that were only barely hinted at on the standard CD version. Track 4: Time. My son hears the clock alarms ringing and comes running in. "What is that!" He is intrigued and stays to listen to the whole song. ...And after this track, I skip ahead to track 6: Money. I've won him over--he's gonna be a Pink Floyd fan! ...And I'm done for the night. A more focused listening of DARK SIDE OF THE MOON will have to wait until tomorrow. But from the first four tracks this disc is very promising.
All in all, I am thrilled! ...And I cannot figure out why I waited so long to move into this format.

First of all Welcome Newbie to SA-CD.net.........
I had the same questions not all that long ago so you are in good hands with many of the reviewers and folks on this website......but like anything sound is often a matter of opinion as is music and what is great and what is good.
I also dont have a multi-channel set up and actually like SACD 2 channel a lot....
So what to start with.....well i have a few reco's to you ......
Rock : Pick up Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the moon....usually sells for like $ 10.00...if you cant get it let me know cause I see it all the time cheap
Jazz : Try the Getz/Gilberto
Blues: Try the John Mayall & Friends
World: Dead Can Dance - Labrynth
Oldie Era: Pick up any of the Analogue Productions Nat King Cole SACD's.....they are sonically stunning and the golden age had some of the best analogue recordings....Steve Hoffman removed all the echo and what you are left with is a stunning and personal album with high tones......
There are some good sacd's and some stinkers........some are just the regular redbook layer transfered to SACD and really dont sound any better....some are magnificient and need to be owned.......buyer beware my friend
again welcome.....

That's hilarious! I'm also a transplanted Phillies fan and attend the occasional Nationals game myself. I'm old enough to remember the last incarnation of the Senators (now Texas rangers) and likewise am no fan of Peter "Asbestos" Angelos. I just hope you weren't one of those "800 level" Eagles fans at old Veterans stadium LOL.

Despite the quote attributed to me in that article, I am still a Phillies fan. It just so happens that my two favorite baseball teams happen to play in the same division. I am still a fan of all the Philly teams, and I dislike all the Washington teams except the Nats. I'm a Nats fan because I was here from the beginning. ...Or the reincarnation. I was a big supporter of the various organizations trying to bring baseball back to the nation's capital; trying to persuade MLB for years that DC could support a team and having to listen to Angelos' ridiculous counterclaims that DC had no real baseball fans.
