The sale of EMI to Universal went through (in September 2012) but not before (EU) regulators mandated that EMI Classics (and several other EMI-owned labels) be jettisoned. Don't know anything else about the status of EMI Classics. Looks like the company is currently being auctioned.

So it seems according to the article that EMI classics is on hold as far as any new releases are concerned.

Should be interesting.

I guess all the contractual stuff has to be renegotiated following the change of ownership. May take some time as not such a big label any longer.

And yet CD Japan are indicating a regular flow of new future EMI SACDs, presumably under the EMI(Japan) label. I thought that these were based on Abbey Road remasterings, so why are these continuing to come out and the EMI Classics versions are not?

As Zeus has pointed out many times, plans are plans, releases are substantive. Maybe the carrier pigeon has only reached Dubai?

Is there any news of further releases in this series? I am starting to give up hope.

With the upheaval of EMI, I seriously doubt if we'll see any new Signature SACD releases anytime too soon.

Meanwhile, EMI/Japan is charging as much for a single EMI SACD as we used to pay for a 4-disc Signature Series SACD set.

Let's hope I'm wrong....but I doubt whether catering to a niche market is first and foremost on their minds.

A question... is this a good time to scoop up any limited edition sacd's by EMI japan like the Ravel Martinon box, or would it be better to wait? How will what has happened to EMI effect prices on products like this one? Will they go up or down?

Won't affect them at all as long as they are in print.
